After seeing some of the not-so-great reviews, I wasn't expecting much from The Green Room — but I have to say, it really wasn’t all that bad. In fact, I had a genuinely good time. The ambiance was lovely — spacious, relaxed, and had a nice casual vibe that made it easy to settle in. The staff were friendly and welcoming, which added to the overall comfort of the place. I was also pleasantly surprised by the food — it was genuinely tasty and well-presented. Definitely better than I had anticipated! While it may not be the most high-end spot in Waterloo, it’s certainly not deserving of all the harsh reviews. If you’re in the area and looking for a chill place to grab a bite, I’d say give it a shot.

*UPDATE* Returned for Sunday lunch. Still a lovely atmosphere, but with a full restaurant the team seemed a bit pressed. The beef roast was a tad dry and you kind of needed additional gravy to make it work. Meatballs were lovely and soft with an extremely intense tomato sauce. *** Had a lovely lunch here with brilliant food and attentive service. The starters were chickpea hummus and burrata - the hummus was amazing, really smooth and creamy. We both had the fish & chips for mains and it looked outstanding - it was very oily, but super fresh and tasty. Service was knowledgeable, friendly and fast. The atmosphere (quiet when we arrived) quickly became busy and loud, but they kept up the pace. It’s a lovely bright spot with lots of light, perfect for a mid-week lunch - I believe it turns into a full bar at night. Prices reasonable, especially for the area.

Ok food but exceptionally poor service. One member of staff served us coffee whilst holding two cigarettes. The bill included drinks we did not order and upon trying to explain to staff the waiter began arguing immediately with us, straight out saying "you are wrong!". When attempting to check the bill for a second time (after staff admitted they got the drinks order wrong) 3 members of staff crowded round us, no attempts at discretion to let us check the bill in our own time.
