Toby Carvery - Highnam

Amazing food! We had a mix up with our bill as we had to come back, but the women who served us was brilliant, and definitely deserves her flowers. She was a real credit to the team, and made our experience amazing. Their was 9 of us and we had a memorable time. We’ll deffo be back and we hope she serves us again.

Yesterday, we had the most awful experience at this place. After it taking a long time to be seated, and served, we were finally able to go up to the carvery. No staff anywhere to be seen. We stand waiting for ages. The man in front of us then fills a paper bag full of food - using his hands. No staff say anything, probably because there were still none around. Then, my 85-year-old father got confused and took a sausage, thinking it was okay as the man before us had literally filled a bag up using his hands. Suddenly, this waitress marches in and shouts at my elderly father at the top of her voice that he was "contaminating the food and ruining it for everyone else". My dad was furious, humiliated and devastated. I couldn't believe how aggressive and unprofessional she was, especially to an old man who'd got confused. She could have dealt with the situation professionally and with tact, but she chose to humiliate and shame him in front of a room full of people. We left without eating. Still no other staff around apart from miss mouthy. When we were leavin, a staff member finally came out and said he'd serve us but the damage had been done by then and we just wanted to get out. We will never return.

First time visiting at Toby’s with my family. Would I go again? Not sure. Greeted by a disgruntled customer shouting “I will make a scene” complaining about his meal I imagine. Embarrassing and not a good start! Then as my partner queued up for 2 meals as I watched our son, when it was my turn and I returned to the table to find they’ve already finished (that’s how long it took to queue) so, all in all, not the best first impression. Shame as it has the potential for good vibes
