5.0in the last weekVisited Gaucho for the 2nd time. Arrived slightly early but was able to be seated straight away. Dom was our server and he was brilliant, friendly and polite and gave us recommendations. Service was speedy from drinks to food. We were booked for 5.30 on a Friday and the restaurant seemed calm but did get a lot busier towards the end of our meal. Had full 3 courses and all food we could not fault. Starters were amazing and came so quick. Would say there’s not really any chicken option starter which some people look for. Mains we had a sharing chateaubriand and it was cooked to perfection, so tender. Finally desserts, opted for pancakes and chocolate brownie, again both dessert were delicious. Overall extremely happy with our meal, service and ambiance of restaurant. Had gift vouchers to use and even the issue with the one voucher was sorted no problem. Would definitely visit again, this is a restaurant I consider visiting for a special occasion as it can work out expensive but you 100% get what you pay for with quality of food and service. The only thing I ask is to bring back the cookie dough dessert! Would book my next visit sooner if that could return.

3.0a month agoOur first visit to Gaucho in Cardiff was overall a decent experience, though it had its ups and downs. We were greeted with a warm welcome upon arrival, but the check-in process felt somewhat excessive, resembling a night club atmosphere rather than a restaurant. That said, the restaurant itself featured a stylish and contemporary setting. One issue we encountered was the lighting at our table, which was initially quite harsh. Fortunately, a small adjustment to the table's position made it more comfortable. Service began on a positive note, with our server being friendly and helpful, but as the evening went on and the restaurant got busier, the attention to our table declined. The food was enjoyable. We were served some warm crisps to start, though these weren’t particularly to our taste. Following that, we enjoyed our steaks, chips, vegetables, and sauces, all of which were nicely prepared and flavourful. The apple crumble for dessert was also a highlight, being really delicious and a lovely way to end the meal. However, the speed of drink service was noticeably slow, which was surprising given that our meal was at 5:30pm. This could certainly be an area for improvement. While there were aspects of the meal and ambiance that we appreciated, Gaucho wouldn’t be at the top of our list for future visits to Cardiff. It’s a stylish venue with good food, but improvements in service and atmosphere could make the experience much more enjoyable.

5.0a month agoHad a fantastic experience here this week for my birthday. The food was fantastic and the service was outstanding, really was nothing like I've had before. They really pulled out all the stops to make the occasion for us. Especially our waitress Egle for everything she did to help, Thanks!
